“Empowering Parents of Kids with Disabilities to Advocate for Positive Approaches to Managing Challenging Behaviors in School”

A FREE parent meeting featuring Jeffrey Spitzer-Resnick, Managing Attorney of the Schools & Civil Rights Team at Disability Rights Wisconsin as presenter.

Discussion will include:

 

  • Parents’ Role in the IEP process
  • Rights of Children with Disabilities when Schools want to Discipline them
  • Use of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) in school to improve behavior of students
  • Reduction of Seclusion and Restraint use in school
  • Legislative advocacy for a PBIS bill that will limit the use of seclusion and restraint in schools
