Understanding Asperger's

When: Friday, December 5, 2008, 9:00-3:00

This training focuses on the unique experiences and characteristics of individuals identified as having Asperger's Syndrome (a syndrome that is a part of the autism spectrum). In addition to differentiating learners who fall within this part of the spectrum, some basic strategies for their support are presented.

Presenters: These trainings are being offered by members of ICC's Educational Partnerships Team. Together this team has over 60 years of experience supporting individuals with autism, their families, schools and other community agencies. Team members come from a wide variety of backgrounds including early childhood, behavior analysis, rehabilitation psychology, marriage and family therapy, occupational therapy, special education and education.

Audience: Our trainings apply to a wide audience, including parents, teachers, therapists, support staff, family members and community agencies.

Important Times: Registration starts at 8:30 each day. Trainings begin at 9:00 and end at 3:00. One hour lunch on your own each day.

Location: Madison Area Technical College Downtown Education Center, 211 N. Carroll St. Madison, WI 53703

College Credits: Participants in Autism Series Workshops 2008-2009 may choose to earn one (1) graduate credit from Silver Lake College per each workshop day for extending the knowledge and skills gained in the workshop to an independent and authentic application of theory to practice within his/her relevant educational and/or professional setting. The cost per credit is $175.00 and is in addition to the workshop fee.The credit registration form, syllabus with requirements,and evaluation form will be available online at www.icc-wi.org two weeks prior to each training date
