Get out the Vote Workshop for the Disabilities Community

What: The Wisconsin Disability Vote Coalition (WDVC) will hold a voting workshop to address Get-Out-the-Vote (GOTV) techniques, ideas and resources for the disabilities community

When: Wednesday, June 25, 2008 from 10 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Where: IndependenceFirst, 600 West Virginia Street, 4th floor, Room 401, Milwaukee (NOTE: This is a new location from previous announcement)

Who should attend: Consumers, organizational staff, direct support workers, parents, families, allies…all those interested in organizing get-out-the-vote activities in 2008 and beyond!

What you’ll learn: What kinds of GOTV plans work and why; what other groups are planning; how you can tap into resources to help with your GOTV drive.

About the WDVC: The Wisconsin Disability Vote Coalition (WDVC), through a targeted and non-partisan GOTV effort has increased participation by the disabilities community by an average of 19% over the last three elections. 

The WDVC also engages in education, outreach and trainings on voting rights and poll place accessibility. We’ve partnered with local disabilities organizations to provide technical assistance and funding for localized GOTV efforts as well as candidate forums.
