The Board of Directors of Disability Rights Wisconsin (DRW) will be holding a Listening Session in Madison on Friday, December 5, 2008 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

As DRW heads into 2009, the Board wants to hear from people with disabilities, their families, friends, disability activists, service providers and other concerned individuals about your ideas for the future of disability advocacy.  In addition, they want to hear about the issues that need to be addressed in the areas of special education, developmental disability, mental health and physical disability services, and disability rights.

Come to speak with the DRW Board to help them identify the issues and priorities for people with disabilities.

WHEN: Friday, December 5, 2008 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

WHERE: Concourse Hotel, 1 West Dayton Street, Madison, WI,

PARKING: Parking ramp nearest the Concourse is the State Street Capitol ramp (cashier-operated) located at the corner of West Dayton St. and N. Carroll St.; cost is $.85/hour

Limited parking in the Concourse Hotel lot located on W. Dayton St. next to entrance of hotel; cost is $7.00.

BUS: Buses stop on Capitol Square one block from the Concourse Hotel

DRW is the designated protection and advocacy agency for people with developmental, physical, or sensory disabilities and people with mental illness in Wisconsin. DRW engages in a variety of advocacy strategies, including one-one-on advocacy for individuals and their families; systems advocacy (influencing state and county policy, legislative advocacy and coalition building); class action and impact litigation; and providing training to people with disabilities, their family members, human service professionals, attorneys, and others on a variety of disability related topics.
