Birth to 3 Public Hearings

Public Hearings will be held around the state on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 for proposed changes to the Parental Payment Limit (formerly Parental Cost Share) for families participating in the Birth to 3 Program.  If you are not able to attend one of the hearings, you can comment in writing.  All comments must be received by 4:30 PM, August 13, 2008.

Youth/parent leadership training series: YIPPE

Wisconsin is fortunate to have a unique statewide leadership training available to both youth with disabilities ages 14-20 and their parents. The Youth in Partnership with Parents for Empowerment (YiPPE) meets six times between October and May in Wisconsin Dells. Youth attend one track, while their parents participate in another. Some activities are shared. The focus is on building self-advocacy and leadership skills in youth with disabilities and leadership/advocacy skills in parents. Planning is well underway for the 2008 Assistive Technology Expo. This year’s event will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the Engineering Centers Building located on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Alert: Sen. Feingold in Kenosha County

U.S. Senator Russ Feingold will hold a listening session in Kenosha County on Monday, August 4, 2008.  His Kenosha County listening session will be held at 8:00 a.m. in the Daimler-Chrysler Hall at the Kenosha Public Museum, 5500 First Avenue, Kenosha. The meeting will last up to an hour.

Survival Coalition 2007-2009 Legislative Report

The Survival Coalition of Wisconsin Disability Organizations has developed a report for the 2007-2009 Legislative Session. The report focuses on the major disability bills that were introduced in the session and what happened to each.  Some of the bills that did not pass could be introduced in the next session.
