Alliance Kicks-Off Campaign to Recognize State's Long-Term Caregivers

Governor Proclaims June as Long-Term Caregiver Month

The Wisconsin Long Term Care Workforce Alliance today announced that it will roll out a campaign to recognize the critical and indispensable role long term care workers serve in maintaining the health, safety, and well being of Wisconsin's elderly and persons with disabilities beginning in June.

WCDD Becomes WDDB

The current 2007-09 State Budget signed into law last October changed the Wisconsin Council on Developmental Disabilities (WCDD) to the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities (WBPDD). The new Board will be an independent state agency rather than attached to the Department of Health and Family Services. Look for a new Board logo and web site in the coming months.

WCDD Budget Platform Updated

The 2007 – 2009 WCDD Budget Platform has been updated on the WCDD website. This brochure outlines the Council's budget platform for the 2007-2009 legislative session. It describes win-win solutions for the state and people with disabilities.

Budget Repair Bill is Final

On May 16, 2006 Governor Doyle signed Special Session AB 1 into law creating Act 226.  He vetoed several items in the compromise reached between both houses of the legislature last week. More info is available on the WI Budget page on the DAWN website

Access to Independence Open House, Madison WI

Access to Independence has moved to a new location at 301 S.  Livingston St., Ste 200 Madison.  We are celebrating  by having an open house on Wednesday, May 28th  from 5:30-8:30.
